Liability, and Personal Injury Defense. Mr. Stires is a Proctor in Admiralty, as designated by
the Marine Law Association of the United States.
Education: University of San Diego, 1996; California Western School of Law 1998.
Professional Experience: Mr. Stires has practiced Maritime Law since his admission to the Bar of
California in 1998. He has developed a Civil Litigation practice with an emphasis on Maritime Law and General
Litigation. He served on the Admiralty and Maritime Law Consulting Group, which advised the Board of Legal
Specialization of the State of California regarding establishment of Maritime Law as a certified legal specialty
in California. He has served as President of the Propeller Club of the United States, Port of San Diego
(President 2004 - 2006) and is the Maritime Law Representative of the San Diego Harbor Safety Committee Spill
Prevention and Response (a division of the California Department of Fish & Game). Mr. Stires joined Holmes Weddle &
Barcott after serving as senior counsel at another San Diego law firm.
