Education: A Massachusetts native, Ms. Harriss received her B.A. from St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland in 1986, and her J.D. from Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1991, cum laude. While at Tulane, she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal.

Professional Experience: Ms. Harriss is based in the firm’s Seattle office, and travels to the Portland, San Diego and Anchorage offices to meet with clients in those locations. She concentrates her practice on litigation, counseling and alternative dispute resolution, with an emphasis on employment, maritime, environmental and product liability issues. Her practice is largely focused on providing workplace training, counseling employers, and handling employment-related claims. She has experience representing individuals and businesses in the maritime, banking, fishing, real estate, manufacturing, financial and insurance industries. Ms. Harriss also serves as a mediator.

Ms. Harriss has taught Admiralty and Maritime Law at the University of Washington School of Law. She speaks regularly to industry and professional groups on a variety of subjects including discrimination in the workplace, sexual harassment, and vessel arrest procedures.

Professional Associations: Ms. Harriss is a Proctor of the Maritime Law Association of the United States; Washington State Bar Association, Labor and Employment Section; King County Bar Association, Labor and Employment section. Ms. Harriss is a member of the LR 39.1 court-appointed panel of mediators for the Western District of Washington and serves as a volunteer mediator with the King County Dispute Resolution Center.
