Mr. White received his B.A. from University of California at Berkeley in 1976 and his J.D. from Northeastern
University School of Law in 1979.
Professional Experience: Michael N. White has a long and extensive background in many types of
litigation and legal practice. He was an assistant District Attorney, District Attorney and District Court
Judge. After leaving the bench, Mr. White was a partner in the 200+ lawyer national firm of Preston, Gates and
Ellis, now K+L Gates, and then in 1993 he co-founded the firm of Friedman, Rubin & White.
In 2007, Mr. White became of counsel to Holmes Weddle & Barcott. He practices in both, Alaska and Washington.
Currently Mr. White handles all types of litigation and business matters with an emphasis on
maritime related matters. Additionally his practice consists of a wide range of litigation including personal
injury, wrongful death, aviation disasters, Jones Act, medical malpractice and insurance bad faith litigation
Mr. White has obtained notable judgments in substantial personal injury cases and wrongful
death cases. He has successfully prosecuted and defended cases on behalf of various fishing companies in
Alaska and Washington.
Mr. White has been honored by several appointments and awards. In 1985, he was appointed to a
judgeship with the Alaska Court System by Governor Bill Sheffield; he was appointed to the Alaska Maritime
Pilots Board by Governor Tony Knowles; and has also received recognition by municipalities and by Mothers
Against Drunk Drivers for his work on behalf of victims of drunk drivers. Mr. White has taught seminars on
evidence and trial practice.
